Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:


  • Senior Standing – Plan to graduate from a U.S. high school in spring 2024.
  • College Enrollment – Intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education at an accredited four-year college beginning in 2024. Proof of acceptance will be required.
  • Teacher Nomination – Must be nominated by a current or former Music Teacher. Teachers can nominate multiple students.
  • Essay & Video Submission – Evaluated on self expression, innovative ideas, descriptive summary of their personal journey with music and a well-stated purpose in seeking to help others.

Timeline

October 25, 2023 Scholarship opens. Please click here to submit a Teacher Nomination.
December 15, 2023 Deadline for Teacher Nominations.
February 16, 2024 Deadline for Student Nominee Application submissions.
April 12, 2024 Scholarship recipients announced. All applicants will be notified of their status via email.

Every ‘Nominee’ will then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ for scholarship by email.     Teacher's Nomination
    Music teachers are welcome to nominate multiple students! To be eligible to apply, eligible seniors must first be ‘nominated’ by a current or former high school music teacher. Every ‘Nominee’ will then receive an ‘Invitation to Apply’ for scholarship by email.     Nominee's Application
    Once the nominee receives the ‘Invitation to Apply’ email they must submit a 3 part application:

    • an online form
    • a 1-minute intro video of why you want to be a music teacher
    • an 800 word essay titled "My Passion for Music & Others"


    The essay and video should both summarize the nominee's journey in music and describe their future career goals in music education. Please see the application and submission guidelines button below. The application deadline is February 16, 2024.

    Selection of Awardees
    The selection of scholarship recipients will be made by Southeastern's Scholarship Committee. The two $1,000 scholarship winners will be chosen by April 12, 2024 and notified immediately.
